Liam Neeson to star in Felt, a Watergate spy thriller about Deep Throat

11.03.2015

Back in the 1970's, the Watergate scandal rocked America after a secret informant known only as Deep Throat provided information to Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein of The Washington Post about the involvement of President Richard Nixon's administration in covering up a break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Watergate office complex. The true identity of Deep Throat would be a mystery for over thirty years until it was finally revealed in 2005 that FBI Associate Director Mark Felt was the man behind the mysterious moniker.

Peter Landesman (CONCUSSION) is set to helm a film which will tell the story of Mark Felt and will star Liam Neeson as the man himself. Said to be a "taut spy thriller", FELT will chronicle the "personal and professional life of the brilliant and uncompromising Felt, who risked and ultimately sacrificed everything – his family, his career, his freedom – in the name of justice." Principal photography on FELT is set to begin next March and the filmmakers are currently in discussions with additional actors to round out the cast.

Liam Neeson's next film will likely be Martin Scorsese's SILENCE, in which he stars alongside Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver as Father Cristóvão Ferreira. SILENCE doesn't have an official release date at the moment, but it is expected to be released in 2016.
