Strike Back below!
by: Mike Sampson May. 4, 2009

The MTV Movie Award nominations were announced this morning and, well, I'd say they're bizarre but really it's exactly what you'd expect from an MTV hosted movie award show. THE DARK KNIGHT somehow got three less nominations than TWILIGHT though it should be interesting to see these two, um, passionate fanbases face off together in the online voting process. WTF?
The MTV Movies Awards hasn't been good in like 10 years. I remember this award was suppose to be a joke of real awards shows...now it has become one. It reminds me of those tv show plots, where the unpopular kid becomes popular and then forgets where he came from. Plus, all it is now is a 3 hr promo for summer movies, as all the presenters whore out their new movie..."And the winner for Best...

Plus, all it is now is a 3 hr promo for summer movies, as all the presenters whore out their new movie..."And the winner for Best Male Performance is Christian Bale...speaking of Bale go see Terminator Salvation."

And whats with the people nominated? Does HSM3 need to be nominated that many times? Efron for Best Male Perfomance? Did he hit puberty during the movie? Where's the love for Eckhart for TDK? Fucking MTV trying to get fucking Tweens to watch this crap.

And you are telling me that nobody from Tropic Thunder, Zack and Miri, or Role Models got nominated for Comedic Performance?

Thank God that got rid of "Best Summer Movie Not to Come Out Yet". Maybe this year it will be "Who is Hunker, Zack Efron or the Douche from Twilight?"

Yeah....
.... I definately don't fit the demographic to give a shit about this show. Would like to see Hellboy 3 or Pinapple Express win for best fight. Other than that? Don't care.

I think I stopped giving a shit about MTV when they replaced music videos with reality shows. In case you're too young to know that sort of sits squarely on Ben Stillers shoulders for Reality Bites, which...

When MTV started doing award shows in the 90's, the whole point was to mock the seriousness of real award shows like the oscars. I mean they gave Chewbacca a lifetime achievement award. They once had an award for best sandwich. Somewhere along the line they decided they wanted to be taken serious. Gone are the fun awards. Gone are the actually funny spoof videos. They once had an award for best sandwich. Somewhere along the line they decided they wanted to be taken serious. Gone are the fun awards. Gone are the actually funny spoof videos. Now somehow this thing has actually been given credit. The only problem is the only people who are interested are about 14 years old. And that must be their target audience when Miley Cyrus and Vanessa Hudgens get nominated for an award. Any award. Kristen Stewart is nominated for best actress for Twilight. Really? Twilight is probably the worst performance she has ever given. It's not even her best performance this year. Go back to playing pranks, and having fun. Otherwise you will be as obsolite as Carson Daly.

at least springsteen was nominated this time. He should have been nominated for best original song at the oscars and also should have one it. the wrestler was one of the best songs I have heard from the boss in a while when it didn't get nominated I was none the less surprised.

I've given up on these awards
I used to really like the MTV Movie Awards, it felt like a really fun, young version of the Oscars. However, I've grown more and more dissatisfied with them each year. Last year really took the cake, with Johnny Depp winning 2 awards that he didn't deserve, Zac Efron winning Breakthrough performance over much more deserving people, and also the fact that teenagers actually thought Transformers...

Last year really took the cake, with Johnny Depp winning 2 awards that he didn't deserve, Zac Efron winning Breakthrough performance over much more deserving people, and also the fact that teenagers actually thought Transformers was 'the best movie'. This year will be the first time I don't watch the awards, I'm sure of it.

I think this has always appealed to a certain demographic that we all kinda grow out of.

I didn't pay too much atention to the list, but Anne Hathaway for Best Actress in "Bride Wars"?!

I'm watching for Andy Samberg and his sketch-writing genius, not to mention he has the connections of MTV at his disposal this time.

Ever since Transformers won "Best Movie we Haven't Seen yet" two years ago, I'm never going to look at the MMA's as anything more than a media convention with hot chicks.
