A SAW tradition is ending at last. No, not the fact that a new one comes out every Halloween, I expect my grandchildren to be watching SAW movies someday. Rather, the series is doing away with the traditional roman numerals on the end of its title for its seventh installment. So what’s it called now?

SAW 3D THE TRAPS COME ALIVE

No, this is not some unbelievably stupid rumor as the studio has actually confirmed the title switch according to Shock Till You Drop. In case you hadn’t realized it, the next Saw movie is in 3D, and I guess they felt the need to not only put that in the title, but actually have it also explain what that means for the series as the traps will uh, come alive it seems with the help of the new format.

How would this work when applied to other 3D movies? Would you be interested in seeing ALICE IN WONDERLAND 3D A CAT FLOATS IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE? How about CLASH OF THE TITANS 3D GET BITCH SLAPPED BY A KRAKEN? Or maybe AVATAR 3D YOU CAN ALMOST TOUCH THIS BLUE CHICK’S BOOB?

People, you're missing the point.
Whether the title does or does not suck is irrelevant. What we should be directing our collective attention to is finding out how many executives, writers, and producers need to be summarily executed to ensure that Hollywood never even thinks of making another Saw sequel ever again.

Honestly I would have probably enjoyed Alice in Wonderland more had it been titled as you suggested, cause that was pretty darn dreadful!

I know I'm in the minority of people who actually enjoy the Saw movies...but this is just fucking stupid. Stick with the roman numerals. Why change now? It does NOT need to be in 3D, and even if it did there is NO need to use "3D" in the title. It's Saw VII!!!!

Like slapshot63 said, that is the tagline, not the title. I'm really stoked for this since Cary Elwes has reprised his role as Dr. Gordon. Finally, we will know his fate and all the loose ends will be completely tied up.

The one upside to the news of this new title: the Saw series has done more to expedite the extinction of 3D then any other film released so far...and it doesn't come out for 3 months!

Unless the traps literally come alive and the twist is that the entire SAW franchise is just an elaborate setup for a more hardcore series of TRANSFORMERS films... I'll continue to pass.

i saw the 1st saw movie. not in theaters. a friend rented it and happened to have just put it in when i came over. so i sat thru it. nothing special. not my thing.

As a huge Saw fan, I think this is a terrible title. I thought, "For once, a horror movie series that keeps it simple and just keeps numbering their sequels." Now they pull this shit and it's a dumbass title to boot. I'm still gonna see it, but god is that title stupid.
