Roll call trailer for The Expendables 3 introduces you to the cast!

Apr. 4, 2014by:

The boys are back!

A few days ago we revealed 4 character posters for THE EXPENDABLES 3 and today we have a new "roll call" trailer to get you warmed up for the late summer actioner. The flick stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jet Li, Terry Crews, Wesley Snipes, Kelsey Grammer, Robert Davi, and Randy Couture, as well as the "young" Expendables, including Kellan Lutz, Glen Powell, Victor Ortiz, and MMA fighter Ronda Rousey. Director Patrick Hughes (RED HILL) is at the helm this time and judging by this trailer it looks like a much more vibrant film with a cleaner, more cinematic look, which I think is a great step forward for the franchise.

Meet the cast:

Here's the synopsis:

Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill... or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables -- but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables' most personal battle yet.

It's really great to see Snipes, Ford, and Gibson in this, not to mention the returning guys. Snipes and Gibson have had a low profile for a while and it's really cool to see them back in action where they belong. Both stars look great and ready to play ball again and they're a welcome addition to the team in my book. We'll have much more on THE EXPENDABLES in a few weeks when we debut our set visit coverage starting on April 16th, so make sure to come back for that.

THE EXPENDABLES 3 smashes into theaters on August 15, 2014.

Despite the first two being duds, this still makes me smile. I wish they'd get Rodriguez to direct.

Where's the villain??!!?

Just a bunch of guys showing off. Can we get a movie featuring a dozen of the greatest villains in one film together?al Pacino, Anthony Hopkins, jack Nicholson, Tom Hiddleston, alan rickman and Bryan Cranston to name a few.

I'm still looking forward to this, though the Fast and Furious fonts really took me out of it and I have this feeling of dread that Harrison Ford will only be in it for 2 minutes tops. Re extra tidbit: I would love it if Gary Oldman and Al Pacino were the villains - Oldman as the Megatron-like character and Pacino as his Starscream.

While I'm not sure that I really want to see the movie, I am admittedly happy to see footage of some of the new additions in action.

Somehow, though, sadwiching Ford between Gibson and Schwarzenegger seems wrong. I know the tradition is "and Arnold Schwarzenegger," but "and Ford" would give it a kind of "HOLY SHIT" quality, rather than a "Don't worry, Arnie's still back".

One last ride?! That sux. I was hoping for one every couple of years. Say what you will about these movies, but I enjoy them for their dumbass action.

I hope they blow up that f**king plane so we dont get any more of the shitty scripting between Jason Statham and Sly while they are flying that f**king plane.

Mel Gibson was in that for literally a second and It already looks like he will steal the entire movie.

One last ride? Fuck that! They better make a couple more at least! I get these movies are cheesy and campy! But that's what these films are all about, and meant to be! A lot of you ppl on here will cream yer jeans over shark vs tornado, or what ever stupid asylum film is coming out on syfy, but they'll rip these expendable's films apart! Witch are way more entertaining to me IMO. I love these expendable's films! Sure they're corny but I can still see the fun in them! And it's awesome seeing

Even tho I enjoyed the first two installments for what they were, this just LOOKS better all around. Of course that's said after only a minute of footage, but I'm still looking forward to this one.

Ok, that roll call was pretty stupid but...

It's great to see Snipes back on the big screen. This guy is a great actor, but if the stories/rumors are correct, then it's too bad his shitty attitude on sets has made him bad to be around. I hope he can pull a comeback.

Problem with these flicks is that they've never lived up to the title. Whole point of getting a bunch of tough guys in one film is that you can kill them off one by one and still have someone to pick up the reins and be the hero (See Dirty Dozen, Magnificent Seven, Predator.) Try as they might, these flicks will never be better than the free movie I get in my own head.

And Expendables 2 was just bad. Two hours of assholes with barely passable English never letting the plot progress because

It isn't their diction, it's your inability to listen.

Well if they had interesting things to say I might've cared. D-list one-liners.

I don't even think a lot of them need to die. there just needs to be a legitimate battle with a storyline attached. If you have all these guys they should be coming together for something better than bland action and logic-less plots.

That was pretty freakin bad. We all know the roll call at this point. Audiences are familiar with The Expendables mythos: gathering action stars in one film. PLEASE SHOW US MORE THAN A CHEESY ROLL CALL. Ugh, and the terrible usage of the Fast and Furious font pretty obvious marketing scheme.

But hey, nice to see Mel Gibson!
