Rumor: Brainiac to take on Justice League and possible Suicide Squad lineup

The latest rumors concerning DC property have landed tonight with two big items concerning the JUSTICE LEAGUE and SUICIDE SQUAD movies. Both films certainly seem to be on the fast track; the last we had heard about the SUICIDE SQUAD movie, Warner Bros. wanted David Ayer to direct the DC Comics adaptation. We already know that Zack Snyder is set to direct JUSTICE LEAGUE after BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. Now according to Latino Review's Umberto Gonzalez we might now know which villain will take on the JUSTICE LEAGUE and also what the SUICIDE SQUAD's roster will look like.

The rumor claims Brainiac will be playing the villain in JUSTICE LEAGUE, a film that Academy Award winner Chris Terrio (ARGO) will now supposedly be writing. This would dismiss the speculation that super baddie Darkseid was going to be the antagonist; perhaps he’s being held back for a later sequel. Brainiac as you know is a major villain to Superman, so I would expect the Man of Steel to be front and center when all the action takes place. They go on to say that Brainiac comes into the fold when he senses the same beacon that drew General Zod to Earth in Man of Steel. With potential rewrites and changes of all sorts between now and then, tread lightly with this news.

Turning our attention to the SUICIDE SQUAD, they have apparently settled on which characters will be featured in the film: Blockbuster, Multiplex, Jaculi, Mindboggler, Harkness aka Captain Boomberang, Vixen, and Deadshot. The latter is said to be the lead, with Harkness and Vixen as the co-stars. Some of those characters should be well known to SUICIDE SQUAD fans while a few might require some research, so it will be interesting to see the official lineup of supervillains.
