Strike Back below!
by: Dave Davis Dec. 9, 2009

Many of us know all about Santa Claus, thanks to childhoods filled with creepy stop-motion animated Rankin Bass holiday specials.

Finnish filmmaker Jalmari Helander seems to have more sinister ideas behind Father Christmas, judging by this teaser for his upcoming horror-comedy RARE EXPORTS. An expansion of his own 2003 short film (also below), the movie seems to involve the literal unearthing of the legendary Santa himself. It's probably safe to assume this Santa won't be too jolly.

The short film was great
Randier Games is a great non-traditional X-mas movie.

short
that short film was awesome! More funny than menacing though. Not sure how you make that an interesting full length feature...

I saw the short YEARS ago when a Finnish exchange student used it in a cultural presentation (Santa Claus is said to live in the Lapland area of Finland). This looks pretty sweet.

I prefer holiday action flicks, like Die Hard and Lethal Weapon. Because the best 80s action movies were set at Christmas for some reason.

Extra Tidbit...
My favorite holiday horror flick is "Gremlins". Also does "Surviving Christmas" count as a horror flick for the holidays?
