Filming for STAR TREK BEYOND is going to begin a little later than Zachary Quinto thought it would, but according to Simon Pegg, production on the third "Nu-Star Trek" movie should start by the end of this month. FAST AND FURIOUS 6's Justin Lin is directing from a script co-written by the actor and CONFIDENCE scribe Doug Jung, and Pegg also told Radio Times (via Moviepilot) that they just recently turned in the first draft of the script.

We started again six months before we were due to start shooting, which is insane! In fact…we start shooting in Vancouver in four weeks – and we’re only handing in our first draft today.

It's not clear when Radio Times' interview with Simon Pegg took place, but even if the duo did pass in the script slightly earlier, that still doesn't leave them with a lot of time to give it another pass or two if filming is set to begin soon. To be honest, I'm really concerned about STAR TREK BEYOND, especially with Paramount not being happy with Roberto Orci, Patrick McKay, and J.D. Payne's "too Star Trek-y" draft of the script. But I'm still excited for STAR TREK BEYOND, and hopefully my worrying will be for nothing.

STAR TREK BEYOND is scheduled to open on July 8, 2016.
