The Incredible Liv

Here it is everyone, big, breaking news! The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Liv Tyler has been cast as Betty Ross in the redux superhero movie THE INCREDIBLE HULK, starring Edward Norton.

In case you don't remember, Jennifer Connelly played Ross in the first HULK film opposite Eric Bana, but in this new version, to be directed by Louis Leterrier of THE TRANSPORTER fame, Tyler will play the colleague/love interest to Norton's Bruce Banner.

The film will kick off with Ross being estranged from Banner, but while Banner is on the run, she's brought back into his life. THE INCREDIBLE HULK starts shooting in Toronto this summer.

Extra Tidbit: When Liv Tyler was cast in the Aerosmith video for 'Crazy', it was a because of an appearance in a Pantene commercial, because at that point, no one knew her father was lead singer of the band.

Jennifer Connelly? Ugly?...uh...either you have insanely high standards for what makes a woman attractive, or you don't have fully functioning eyes.

I think she'll be a great Betty Ross! To begin with, she's not as ugly as Jennifer Connelly by now.

Now, who should play Thunderbolt... I don't think they will bring Sam Elliot back. He probably don't want to either.

Personally, I'm a little puzzled why they needed to do a reboot of the Hulk. Sure, The Hulk was a disappointment in the box office, but the movie wasn't too bad. And doesn't it seem too soon for them to just go and start everything from scratch?

Actually, I saw spidey 3, the midnight showing. When I wrote that comment, I had just finished watching the movie two hours previous, I didn't think it was all that great, hence the comment about it.

But that's neither here nor there. So yeah. Liv Tyler. Good choice.

And Zak Penn...yeah...that's a big red herring right there. Although, everything the guy has written (superhero-wise at least) has been with one or two other guys. He's never turned in a comic book flick all by his lonesome.

Presumably her father knew.

Anyway, she's a worthy replacement, though I still think using Mrs. Connelly would have worked okay. Good job, though.

Oh, and for drw....my only big concern are that Pirates 3 makes up for Pirates 2, that Spidey 3 is better than Spidey 2 (note that I say "better" and not "able to kick anything's ass"), and that Transformers is as good as it seems to be shaping up.

Extra Tidbit

Yeah I'm sure they had no idea she was Steven Tyler's daughter when they cast her in that video. Just like I believe that Tori Spelling got the gig on 90210 on her own, without her father's help.

Very interesting choice, but this movie has a big problem - Zak Penn.

!!!

Perfect! I was at first worried that the role would simply go to some "hot babe" who would never fall for Bruce Banner in a zillion years. Liv Tyler as Betty? I believe that.

Ya know, it's funny, I was pretty sure that this movie was going to blow chunks, but as time goes on, my expectations are starting to change.

Who'da thunk it. Spidey 3 turns out not so good at all, and the sequel to the hulk might end up kicking ass. Who knew.
