The vampire neighbor in the Fright Night remake is Colin Farrell, of all people

He’s been keeping a relatively low profile for a while, but Colin Farrell is back with a thirst for blood.

Our favorite Irish wildman will star in the revamp (ahem) of the memorable 80s flick FRIGHT NIGHT. The update, as with the original, involves a young man who is justifiably convinced his new neighbor is a bloodsucker.

Anton Yelchin (STAR TREK) plays the jittery horror fanatic, while Farrell will slip on the fangs as the charismatic vampire next door (a role previously — and perfectly — played by Chris Sarandon). Toni Collette (THE SIXTH SENSE) is also appearing as Yelchin’s mom (although it would’ve been kinda cool if she took over the washed-up horror host originally played by Roddy McDowall).

The Dreamworks movie comes from director Craig Gillespie (LARS AND THE REAL GIRL) and writer Marti Noxon, who cut her teeth as a creative regular on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel”.

Deadline also says that Farrell will co-star with Paul Rudd in the self-explanatory comedy HORRIBLE BOSSES.
