The Weinstein Company has optioned TV rights to Truman Capote’s 1966 bestseller "In Cold Blood" with the aim of making it a TV event series, according to Deadline.
Originally a four-part serial in The New Yorker, "In Cold Blood" was published by Random House and went on to become the second-biggest-selling true crime book of all time. It follows…
…the brutal 1959 murders of a Kansas farm family and the effect of the killings on both the community and the men who eventually were convicted, with Copote developing personal relationships with both Perry Smith and Dick Hickock.
It will certainly be hard to top the 1967 Richard Brooks-penned adaptation that starred Robert Blake and Scott Wilson ("The Walking Dead") as the killers, as that film is a flat out masterpiece.
Gary Oldman and Douglas Urbanski’s Flying Studios (TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY) will produce the project, with BECOMING JANE scribe Kevin Hood attached to write.
