Transformers: the Ride

10.20.2008

Mayhem maestro Michael Bay delivers his second helping of clashing robots and collateral damage next year with TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN, but that definitely won't be the end of the battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons.

In fact, you'll get to be a part of it yourself. No, not by re-enacting the big-screen brawling with your action figures (which you can still do), but by traveling to Universal Studios. In 2011, the theme park (in Hollywood) will launch a brand new attraction featuring "3-D HD footage with special effects, robotics and track to place humans in the middle of a war between the friendly Autobots and evil Decepticons." It'll be a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Prime!

If you're overseas, you'll get to experience it even sooner -- the TRANSFORMERS ride is expected to open along with Universal's new Singapore park in 2010.

Extra Tidbit: Universal will use TRANSFORMERS to replace the BACKDRAFT attraction, which must be pretty well charred by now. You check that door for heat, Tim?

Never cared for the Backdraft show anyway. Although it was a good way to dry off after going on Jurassic Park. But good... Universal never had many rides... glad they're getting a new one. Though they should have kept ET and Back to the Future... ET wasn't that great but Back to the Future?! Common... Anyway. can't wait for this

AWesome

I'm going to Universal Studios Hollywood next weekend for the Halloween horror night. I try to go about once a year. I was afraid they were going to close the Terminator 3D attraction. Although I LOVE the Backdraft thing, I'm glad Universal is trying something new. Why do they deem it necessary to close one thing down to fit another ride? Can't they just expand?

Thank God they're getting rid of Backdraft!!! I used to work at Universal and I couldn't tell you how many people bitched at me about there not being enough rides at the Hollywood park. And there isn't. Glad to see they're adding another and getting rid of something that should have been gone long ago.

The Simpsons Ride is cool, but I wish they would've kept Back To The Future.

My annual pass to Universal Orlando has deemed itself useless.

Is this Universal Hollywood or Orlando or both?

In your extra tidbit, you say its replacing the Backdraft ride, which isn't at Orlando, so I assume this is only a Hollywood attraction! Which sucks, as i always have a season pass to the Orlando park!
