Tyrese Gibson teases Green Lantern meeting with Warner Bros.

Tyrese Gibson has been campaigning to play Green Lantern John Stewart for the past week on his social media accounts, and it looks like it may have led to a meeting with Warner Bros. about the role. Yesterday the actor posted an image on his Instagram of Warner Bros. Studios, with the caption "I don't talk..... I move..... #WB #GreenLanternMission."

Obviously this doesn't mean Gibson will definitely play John Stewart, and even though he might appear in a DC movie before 2020's GREEN LANTERN, it's not like Warner Bros. is rushing around trying to find someone for the part.

Tyrese Gibson is a decent actor, and I'm not against him playing GL, however like most of you, I do think there are better options out there. But remember, it was only a meeting with Warner Bros., and who knows how the conversation went. There's always a chance WB said, "We appreciate your enthusiasm, but we don't believe you're the right actor for the role," or "Sorry, but we're already in talks with a different actor for the part." Do you think Gibson is actually in the running to play Green Lantern?

Tyrese Gibson can be seen next in FURIOUS 7 on April 3, 2015, and GREEN LANTERN is scheduled to be released on June 19, 2020.

I'd rather see Hal Jordan done right, than John Stewart done just to wash the bad GL taste out of people's mouths from the first movie. That being said, I understand why they might go that direction. But even if they go that direction, he is completely wrong for the role. I don't know who they should cast for it, just not him. My Original best choice for the role was Henry Simmons, who is now tied up by Marvel as Mac on Agents of Shield.

Haven't seen him in a movie since fast and furious 2. I'm not completely against it but I have to believe there's a bunch of better picks for the role.

I don't think he would be right for the role at all. I can't see him carrying a solo successful film all by himself (last thing the character needs is another film that doesn't perform well at the box office) and the fact that I think they're much better choices out there. I mean I think Michael Ealy would be an inspired choice for Jon Stewart instead of Tyrese or in a perfect world Idris Elba.

But I still hope DC uses Hal Jordan again for their Justice League and solo DC Green Lantern

Even I they use Jordan again, it won't be with Reynolds...
It WAS the plan, to have GL1 start the DCCU, but after it's financial and critical failure, they put it aside.
Just like DCTVU and DCCU are not in the same Universe, neither is GL1, now...
Casting a new Amanda Waller is just the last proof of that.
A shame, because Reynolds was a good Jordan in a bad GL film (I know you like it, but still...).
On the other hand I'd rather have him as Deadpool if I had to choose one franchise...
NB

NB I'm rather sick of always reading about Idris 'The Black Nathan Fillion' Elba for every 'black' (or not... 007, really?) parts !

Few things...

dude's gotta eat, but i find actors campaigning for a role pretty pathetic. Also, knowing the character only from the Justice League cartoon, John Stewart was a total bore of a character. I might be remembering it wrong, but the dude had zero pesonality.

I think he's pretty much an opposite of Hal Jordan - way more serious than him.

In the Comics, he's a former soldier and an architect.
He can be pretty badass and don't hesitate to kill when necessary for the 'greater purpose', including other GL when under enemy control (he destroyed Mogo, the Planet Lantern).
I don't know how he is represented in the cartoon series, but his Comics iteration definitely needs a more edgy actor then the to often comic relief Gibson is paying. Still, he's an actor and might surprise us... Or not !

I would like to see Tyreese do it. I think he could be interesting. Of course Idris is a better choice. Just from the acting ability.

I'd rather see Hal Jordan tbh

If they do go down the Stewart line then there are worse actors out there... But there are better actors too.

If Gibson gets it then good for him. I won't hate the idea...

I wonder his Idris Elba's marvel contract would prevent him from doing a DC film?

Okay, Mr. Gibson, I get your point, though I think Common is a better choice.
