Vivica Fox to return for Roland Emmerich's Independence Day sequel

Early this morning director Roland Emmerich announced on Twitter that Vivica Fox will return as Jasmine in the INDEPENDENCE DAY sequel, joining Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Fox's ID4 co-star Jeff Goldblum. Later Fox tweeted she's "so exited and blessed to be part of this journey again." Somehow I doubt Fox's character will still be a stripper (excuse me, "exotic dancer") in INDEPENDENCE DAY 2.

There's still no details on Charlotte Gainsbourg's role (or if Brent Spiner's Dr. Okun will be back; sorry guys), but Jeff Goldblum will return as computer expert David Levinson, and Liam Hemsworth might be playing former President Thomas Whitmore's (Bill Pullman) son-in-law. Jessie Usher will reportedly star as Jasmine's son and step-son of Captain Steven Hiller (Will Smith). While Smith won't be reprising his Hiller role, I'm hoping the filmmakers have at least contacted Pullman about possibly appearing in the sequel.

Roland Emmerich is currently prepping to shoot INDEPENDENCE DAY 2, and it is scheduled to open on June 24, 2016.

I always thought that an Independence Day sequel would have begin with Will Smith's character becoming the next POTUS and Bill Pullman's character retired to fly a cropduster. Jeff Goldblum's character would have become the US lead scientist, and the trailer home kids grew up, enlisted in the airforce to become new fighter pilots piloting high maneuverable jets infused with alien technology that can transform into robot mechas. The aliens are now giant humanoids that call the humans

I'm suprised she could fit it in with her full slate of blockbuster movies she stars in...
She would accept a movie about grass growing at this point.

Maybe the most useless casting for this movie. Her arc is done, she only served to show the viewer what was happening on the ground after the aliens blew everything up. Now that she's been saved, she has no purpose. She was easily the worst part of Independence Day (aside from the one scene with her in a thong).

It won't make sense with her without Will Smith in the film. I really hope there's a logical explanation why she's here and not because she got a divorce or captain Steven Hiller is dead. That would be a cop out.
