Dinosaurs are everywhere in the new Fallen Kingdom BTS featurette

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

In celebration of National Dinosaur Day, Universal Pictures has unleashed a new behind-the-scenes featurette for JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM that details many of the menacing creatures featured in the upcoming sequel. As you're likely to know, the new film takes place four years after the destruction of the Jurassic World theme park, and follows Owen Grady and Claire Dearing as they return to the island of Isla Nublar to save the remaining dinosaurs from a volcano that's about to erupt. They soon encounter terrifying new breeds of gigantic dinos while uncovering a conspiracy that threatens the entire planet. Get ready for a rescue mission of epic proportions, folks, because the Jurassic franchise is about to go full Noah.

In my opinion, this is the coolest featurette we've received for the film to date. In the footage, producer Pat Crowley reports that JURASSIC PARK: FALLEN KINGDOM is set to feature more dinosaurs than any of the previous Jurassic Park movies combined. The film's director, J.A. Bayona, also makes an appearance for the behind-the-scenes clip, and in doing so, reveals that sometimes there were so many dinos in a single shot that he was left with no choice but to widen the frame.

Perhaps my favorite aspect of the featurette is that it highlights the use of practical effects implemented throughout the film. That's right, purists, we're talking about the use of several bonafide, anamatronic dinosaurs, here. It's the kind of ingenuity and imagination that made the Steven Spielberg original so magical, and it's back, baby!

Additionally, Universal is running an #AdoptADino sweepstakes on Instagram and Twitter, where you can win dinosaur-themed stickers, t-shirts and more! Be sure to check it out!
