John Boyega confirms Finn and Rey won’t be split up in Episode 9

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI took things in a way different direction than FORCE AWAKENS, with one major change being the separation of Finn (John Boyega) and Rey (Daisy Ridley). They both had their own journey to go on, but for the upcoming STAR WARS EPISODE 9, the duo will apparently be back together again, according to Boyega himself. Oh, how I love reunions!

While on a panel at this week’s Awesome Con in Washington D.C. Boyega revealed that, though he obviously hasn’t read a script yet, Ridley sent him a delightful text saying director J.J. Abrams confirmed to her a key piece of info.

I haven’t read the script for Episode 9. But Daisy did shoot me a text saying, “Oh my gosh, I just heard from J.J. [Abrams], and we’re back together. That’s what I’m really excited about, is Finn and Rey back together again.

At the end of LAST JEDI, we saw the two reunited after Rey used the Force to lift up a pile boulders that had the last of the Resistance members trapped in the mountain. The movie then ends with everyone back together again, and there was much rejoicing. However, even though Finn and Rey are back together it doesn’t mean it will be all sunshine, rainbows and skipping through the meadows. There is a massive threat coming now that Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) is leading the First Order and has a huge beef with Rey. Boyega said they all should be ready for a brutal fight this next go-around.

I think it’s going to be all-out war in this final chapter, so we need to be prepared.

I can understand why Finn and Rey had to be separated in LAST JEDI, but I think it will be fun to see the two back together again and watch how their dynamic has changed after their big adventures. Maybe now Rey can teach him how to properly wield a lightsaber so he doesn’t get his ass handed to him like he did last time.
