NOTE: This is a developing story, so expect updates.

Fans eager to hear some news about Matt Reeves forthcoming THE BATMAN can now settle in at least one thing; who will put on the cape and cowl next. Robert Pattinson is being reported (via Variety) as the next in line to portray Bruce Wayne/Batman for Warner Bros./DC's DCEU. Pattinson was apparently cast as Reeves continues to polish up the latest draft for the script. Filming is currently expected to begin in late 2019 or early 2020.

To note, Deadline is saying that it's between Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult, but Variety is reporting it's just a matter of time, with their sources saying that while it's "not yet a done deal, Pattinson is the top choice and it’s expected to close shortly."

Pattinson first made a name for himself by playing the angsty lead vampire in THE TWILIGHT SAGA, but later strayed from the big-budget, spectacle fare for smaller, more personal films, including THE ROVER, LIFE, MAPS TO THE STARS, THE LOST CITY OF Z, HIGH LIFE and the upcoming THE LIGHTHOUSE from director Robert Eggers.

Pattinson is currently preparing to shoot Christopher Nolan's next movie, which co-stars John David Washington and is set to open July 17, 2020.

WB has yet to confirm this news.
