Matt Groening’s Disenchantment gets two-season renewal at Netflix

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Quick, someone sound the trumpets, for word has reached Dreamland that Nextflix has granted a two-season renewal to Matt Groening's DISENCHANTMENT. For those of you counting at home, the order is for 20 additional episodes, which now has the Rough Draft Studios animated series set for four seasons at 10 episodes a piece. As long as the show continues on schedule, fans can expect Season 2 to drop in 2019, with Season 3 and 4 happening in 2020 and 2021, respectively.

"We’re excited to continue this epic journey with Netflix. Stay tuned for more cranked-up suspense, infuriating plot twists, and beloved characters getting knocked off," said The Simpsons creator, Matt Groening.

DISENCHANTMENT centers on the dysfunctional Princess Bean (Abbi Jacobson), who’s accompanied by the demon Luci (Eric André) and the dwarf Elfo (Nat Faxon) through a magical realm known as Dreamland. Fans of Groening's previous animations have been in their glory with DISENCHANTMENT, as the show features FUTURAMA alums John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche and Tress MacNeille. Also joining the aforementioned titans of voice talent as members of the cast are David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding and Lucy Montgomery.

The new series is Groening's first in 20 years, after the releases of both THE SIMPSONS and FUTURAMA, of course. Obviously, Netflix believes in the staying power of Groening, hence the multi-season commitment. Here's hoping that the animation guru and his team have a lot more magic up their sleeves as DISENCHANTMENT continues to cast a spell over viewers.
