Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle releases new featurette

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Like a lot of kids who grew up in the ’90s, I have quite the soft spot for JUMANJI. It was a fun movie, with cool special effects, and a wacky performance by Robin Williams. Hell, I saw it recently, and think most of the effects hold up (and even the ones that clearly don’t – like the monkeys – still have a lot of charm in an early Harryhausen way). So I was going to be skeptical of a sequel no matter what.

However, the featurette embedded above – while not alleviating all my anxieties – makes me feel they are indeed trying to keep the same spirit and sense of adventure and fun as the original. I also can’t deny that I laughed or at least giggled at a lot of the scenes as well. I’m still not convinced it’s going to great or anything, but it at least doesn’t look outright terrible, either.

Meanwhile, JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE will play at theaters December 20th.
