Actors attempt southern accents in the Same Kind of Different as Me trailer

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

SAME KIND OF DIFFERENT AS ME follows Ron Hall (Greg Kinnear) and Denver Moore (Djimon Hounsou) as they became besties through Ron’s wife, Deborah (Renee Zellweger), who’s dying of cancer. The film goes into the developing personal friendship between two men of different upbringing, and the struggle that is required to make and maintain such a friendship despite trying to use your best southern accent.

Well, that was it! That was the entire movie! However, if you’re looking to stretch that experience out over the course of 2 hours, you need only wait until February of next year. On a serious note, I do like most of the actors in the mix but the trailer is way too saccharine for my taste, true story or no. I initially wondered who’s wake Djimon Hounsou‘s character was speaking at in the trailer, but now it’s obvious; the audience’s.

SAME KIND OF DIFFERENT AS ME opens in theaters on February 3, 2017.
