New Moana TV spot emphasizes that it’s Maui time

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Prepare to sail the vast seas, fight terrible creatures and gaze upon the chest of an animated demi-god, as the tattoos on his pecks burst to life. Are you not prepared for this glory? Too bad, because that’s exactly what you’re going to get in this new MOANA extended TV spot that aired during the Olympics, which puts Maui (Dwayne Johnson) front and center. Avast, ye maties, for the adventures of the seven seas and all the gold ye can—sorry—went kind of pirate-y there for a second.

Check out the TV spot here!

Is it me, or do the promotions for this movie seem to be very Maui-geared so far? The initial trailer for the movie mostly showed him dancing around and doing all the talking, while this one advertises why he's going on this big adventure more than Moana (Auli'i Cravalho), which, you may not be able to tell, is who the movie got its title from. There was that adorable video of Moana playing in the water as a toddler, but that’s when she was a toddler. We all know toddlers don’t matter. They have nothing to contribute in society.

Oh well, maybe Disney will give us more footage and context of, you know, their title character closer to the film’s November 23 release date. Here's that cute video again.
