John Carpenter is producing and may score a new Halloween film

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

How's this for unexpected but welcome news?! Not only is a new HALLOWEEN film on the way, but the man who originally brought The Shape to life, John Carpenter, is executive producing! Miramax, Trancas International Films and Blumhouse now have the rights to the franchise (Dimension having lost them months ago) and they sought out Carpenter a few weeks back to take part. Blumhouse is pretty adamant that there is no making a new HALLOWEEN film without John Carpenter's involvement, who will act as "godfather" and be involved creatively. There's even a chance he might score the film as well! Check out what he had to say on the matter below!

John Carpenter on making a new HALLOWEEN film:

We're going to go back to the earlier traditions that we started with. It's kind of gone astray a little bit. I thought that maybe the remake went off somewhere that I didn't want it to go. Michael Myers is not a character, he's a force of nature. He is not a person; he is part supernatural, part human. When you start straying away from that and start explaining, you're lost. So hopefully we can guide it back in that direction.

Carpenter also stated that he's going to "try to make the 10th sequel the scariest of them all,” and that it actually didn't take much convincing to get him on board. That's pretty surprising given what he's thought about the remakes and sequels to his films over the years. There hasn't been a director chosen just yet, but with Carptener's involvement, that's sure to put A LOT of fans at ease. The crew are aiming to get this one out by Halloween of 2017 so hopefully we'll have a great, new entry into the franchise come the end of next year!

The new HALLOWEEN flick is aiming to hit theaters by Halloween 2017.

It's still great after all these years!
