22 Jump Street writer Rodney Rothman set to script 23 Jump Street

Fans of 22 JUMP STREET rejoice as it looks like Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are returning for another adventure as undercover students. With 22 JUMP STREET grossing $190 million domestically, it seemed a no-brainer to go for the trifecta, despite the sequel-mocking closing credits of the summer box office hit.

Rodney Rothman, who co-wrote 22 JUMP STREET with Michael Bacall, has been set to script the obviously titled 23 JUMP STREET. Deadline reports that Rothman will produce alongside directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Miller and Lord have not committed to helming the third film but Sony is leaving the door open for them to return.

I enjoyed 22 JUMP STREET and thought it was a fitting sequel to the first, but I truly don’t know how you make a sequel after that. If you don’t know what I mean, check out the video of the closing credits below. And yes, this is a major spoiler warning. I would not expect to see 23 JUMP STREET until 2016 at the earliest.
