David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, showrunners for HBO’s Game of Thrones, have signed on for at least two more seasons on the show. This would continue their tenure on the show for what would be the fifth and sixth seasons, presumably tackling the next two books in the series, “A Feast For Crows” and “A Dance With Dragons,” both of which take place at the same time, but in different locales with the focus on different characters. Presumably, the duo will find a way to merge the timelines (and characters) to have an even spread across two seasons, but not details have been revealed as of yet. Although the show has to even be renewed for a fifth season, let alone a sixth, it’s the network’s most-watched show with 14.3 million viewers. I’d wager there won’t be much hesitation in renewal.
The fourth season kicks off in just a few weeks, the anticipation raging after a particularly bloody and shocking season three, which is only the first half of author George R.R. Martin’s third book in the Song of Ice and Fire series, “A Storm of Swords.” Those who have read the novel have a very good idea what to expect this season, which is sure to bring even more shocks, surprises, and bloody good memorable moments. Set your DVR’s. Winter’s almost here.
