Ben Affleck says he was “reluctant” to don the cowl for Zack Snyder’s Batman vs Superman

Ben Affleck was recently interviewed by 411 Mania, and the actor talked to the site about how thrilling it is the Red Sox are back in the World Series:

Obviously its very exciting. Its so strange to be in a world where the sox have a chance win their third world series in ten-

Wait, who gives a damn about baseball? Tell us about the Bat, Ben! Seriously though, Affleck had a conversation with the site about playing Batman and he said at first he wasn't sure about taking the part in Zack Snyder's film.

Initially I was reluctant as I felt I didn't fit the traditional mold but once Zack showed me the concept, and that it would be both different from the great movies that Chris and Christian made but still in keeping with tradition I was excited. Doing something different and new is always tricky and part of the thrill and the risk is that initially it confounds expectations. The truth is, it's the movie and the execution of it is what all the actors depend on and I believe in Zack's vision.

Back in September Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara said Ben Affleck's Batman will be "tired, and kind of weary and seasoned." The site asked Affleck if he felt the same way about this version of Batman, and if he had anything else to say about the character.

Yes, Kevin described it aptly. I don't want to go further because I want to be able to capitalize on what is new about this iteration by having it be a surprise to the audience.

411 Mania also asked Ben Affleck which actor was his favorite Batman, but didn't give a real answer, and instead responded with, "It has been done very well many times before." Aw, c'mon Affleck. You can tell us.

That's it for Batman related comments from Affleck, but he did share a list of several television series he really enjoys watching, and apparently he's a big fan of Game of Thrones. Can someone please make a parody video of Ben Affleck reacting to the Red Wedding? Pretty please?

Game of Thrones is my current obsession (dying for its return). Homeland is terrific. Downton Abbey is great. I read Damon Lindeloff's pilot and know some people on the show. Its going to be amazing. There is an abundance of riches right now.

I'm not going to lie: I love me some Ben Affleck. Even during the dark years of GIGLI and Jennifer Lopez I had a soft spot for him because of his appearances on SNL, and his work with Kevin Smith. I really enjoyed Christian Bale's take on Batman, but I'm ready for someone new, and I'm pumped to see how the character will be portrayed in the upcoming film.

BATMAN VS SUPERMAN is scheduled to hit theaters on July 17th, 2015.
