Britt Robertson, who I remember most as the annoyingly accurate teenage daughter of Steve Carell in DAN IN REAL LIFE has landed herself a leading role in Brad Bird‘s TOMORROWLAND. The actress currently has a role on CBS’ UNDER THE DOME.

A project still shrouded in mystery finally seems to have a short synopsis:

In the film, a high school girl with an unconventional understanding of technology is launched on a journey to reclaim her future.

This sort of backs up the plot that HitFix got the exclusive on:

A teenage girl, a genius middle-aged man (who was kicked out of Tomorrowland) and a pre-pubescent girl robot attempt to get to and unravel what happened to Tomorrowland, which exists in an alternative dimension, in order to save Earth.

Robertson went against TERRA NOVA’s Naomi Scott for the part. Early on Shailene Woodley was considered but that didn’t seem to pan out for whatever reason. I look forward to the awesomeness that Brad Bird has in store for us. Also, you can’t lose with Hugh Laurie.

TOMORROWLAND starring George Clooney, Hugh Laurie, Britt Robertson, and Raffey Cassidy hits theaters December 12, 2014.
