With BREAKING BAD airing the final batch of episodes this summer before going off the air, AMC is going to lose of the biggest critical and fan successes on the network. But, Vince Gilligan may not be done with the seedy underworld of New Mexico crime featured on the series. Sure, Walter White’s story may come to an end, but who could carry a show all his own? Better call Saul!

Saul Goodman, the sleazy lawyer played by Bob Odenkirk, may be getting his own show according to Deadline. The potential series would apparently be a comedy of either the half hour or full hour variety. All signs point to no studio audience. The show is in the very early stages but would like be produced by BREAKING BAD’s Gilligan and the writer who created the character of Saul Goodman, Peter Gould.

Saul would definitely be an interesting focus for a series which could feature other characters from BREAKING BAD in cameo roles. I have enjoyed Odenkirk’s brand of comedy ever since the days of MR. SHOW where he partnered with the great David Cross. AMC has not explored very much comedy, but even if this was a darkly comic spin-off in tone with Saul’s scenes on BREAKING BAD, I would definitely tune in.
