Listen to 007 minutes of Thomas Newman’s Skyfall score

JoBloJoBlo

After hearing Adele’s stunning theme song for SKYFALL, I was worried that the score would not live up to such a high standard. But, upon hearing this seven minute excerpt from Thomas Newman’s score, I cannot be happier to say there is nothing to worry about.

Newman’s score is tense and epic while still maintaining the classic cool that every Bond movie needs. David Arnold composed the last five Bond films and while they have been serviceable, they all felt like cheap imitators. It was somewhat surprising that when Daniel Craig came on as the rebooted Bond they still kept the old composer who scored all of the Pierce Brosnan films. Newman is the first fresh blood in 17 years and it makes a huge difference.

Tell me that doesn’t get you pumped to see SKYFALL. All signs are pointing to Sam Mendes’ film to being one of the best James Bond flicks in a very long time.

Newman is a damn good composer. He has provided the music for WALL-E, THE HELP, REVOLUTIONARY ROAD, LITTLE CHILDREN, AMERICAN BEAUTY, ROAD TO PERDITION, AND JARHEAD, the last three all being Mendes directed films.

SKYFALL opens on November 2nd.
