Initially, I wasn’t sure what to make of the GAMBIT remake from director Michael Hoffman (THE LAST STATION). It was an interesting pairing, but was up for checking it out after I learned that Joel and Ethan Coen wrote the script.

These new character posters for the film show each of the leads with the tagline, “The con is on”. Diaz, Rickman and Firth are all posing with something. It’s fair that Rickman got the lion. Are the posters anything special? Aside from that lion and Rickman? Nah, this is your typical character poster. Check out the synopsis for the film along with the posters below.

Gambit revolves around a London art curator (firth) who plots an elaborate scheme to con a wealthy collector (Alan Rickman) into buying a fake Monet painting. As part of the ruse, he recruits a Texas steer roper (Diaz) to play the part of a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of WWII.

THE GAMBIT is due to release January 11, 2013.
