Exclusive: Storyboards from Eric Bana and Saoirse Ronan brawling in Hanna!

I was talking to some friends the other day and noting that, while the end of the year is a long time away, I’d be surprised if I didn’t find room for HANNA on my Top 10 of 2011 list. It was a sentiment echoed by Chris Bumbray in his HANNA review. There’s been a lot of critical love for the movie in the past week or so and I’m really hoping that will be enough to convince some of you to head out this weekend and see it for yourself (I’m actually going to see it for a second time).

Today we’re excited to debut six detailed storyboards from the film from an opening battle/training sequence between Hanna and her father Erik. These aren’t just stick figures and arrows as you’ll see below. There’s a lot of director’s notes on here so you get a really good sense at how Joe Wright wanted to film this scene from early on in the movie and how it gives us a sense of Hanna’s abilities and her relationship with her father.

To get you even more in the mood, I’ve included some Chemical Brothers from the film’s soundtrack to play while you imagine the scene in your head. As a little bit of a set up, Hanna was out in the snow hunting by herself and has just caught a deer when the following scene begins. Check it out below!
