Now that most superhero roles have been cast, it seems like Cast This columns are harder to come up with. But then this week, I get tons of news about various projects looking for leads, and I actually have to CHOOSE who to cover.
So, do you want to cast Wikileak’s Julian Assange, Scorsese’s Frank Sinatra or Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft. Yeah, I thought so. The one with the boobs.
There is now movement on rebooting the TOMB RAIDER film franchise, as the games are currently undergoing a revamp as well. The key words are “dark” and “gritty” on that reboot naturally, so might we expect that from the film as well? Who will be our new archeological hardass LARA CROFT?
The original two movies may have been pretty lackluster, but I think you’ll be hard pressed to find a better match than the original casting of Angelina Jolie in the role. The face, the rack, it all lined up perfectly with the character we knew and ogled over.
But rumor has it, Lara is going younger, and there’s far less focus on her chest than there used to be. I’m all for the creation of a legitimate female action hero, as it’s something we rarely if ever see these days, and this could be a great vehicle for a young ass-kicker to get herself out there.
You know what she looks like. Brunette with a banging bod, so which young actress do you think would be right for the part? It could be a well-known A-lister, but I’d try to pick someone who is an up-and-comer looking for a big break.

Back to superhero land, last Cast This we tried to find who would play the likely-to-exist role of Lex Luthor in the upcoming SUPERMAN reboot that really, really needs a title at this point. Who’d you guys pick?
1. No Lex Luthor (11%) 2. Jon Hamm (9%) 3. Billy Zane (5%)
Well this is a first. The vote was split across a ton of actors, but the most popular comments were one requesting that Luthor not even been in the movie, as he’s been in EVERY single one, and I guess you guys are sick of him. I would actually probably agree with this decision, and wouldn’t mind if he didn’t show up.
As for the other two? Superman contender Jon Hamm has actually played Luthor in a Funny or Die skit (seen above) and I could see him working. Billy Zane is bald so uh, that helps.
Alright, how about Lara Croft?
