Stunt gone awry

Making movies is supposed to be fun, but of course there are always risks involved, especially for the stunt men and women who sacrifice their behinds for our own enjoyment. All film lovers hate to hear when things go wrong on set, and unfortunately that was the case yesterday when a scene involving a car chase on the Times Square set of the Nic Cage-starring THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE got out of control.

The scene required a Ferrari to pass several vehicles as it chased a Mercedes down Seventh Avenue, which was closed at the time. A couple of eye witnesses will fill us in on what happened next:

The Ferrari took a route down the center of the road, swerving between cars. The Mercedes took the outside lanes. “The Ferrari took a sharp right to the left and lost it, swerving across the lanes, taking out a lamppost and a news stand. One lady was knocked to the ground and a lamppost landed directly on top of a chap.

The Ferrari eventually crashed into a Sbarro, injuring two people who were taken to hospital. Thankfully the injuries were not life threatening, and filming appears to be back on track. We here would like to wish everyone involved a speedy recovery, and hopefully that Sbarro will be up and running again soon, serving tasty slices for tourists everywhere.
