Scream Factory to release Jim Wynorski’s Sharkansas Women’s Prison Massacre

Last Updated on July 22, 2021

Scream Factory has announced that they will be releasing the wonderfully titled SHARKANSAS WOMEN'S PRISON MASSACRE, the latest film from legendary B-movie director Jim Wynorski, the man who gave us such classics as CHOPPING MALL and SORORITY HOUSE MASSACRE 2, on DVD and Blu-ray May 3rd.

With a cast that includes Dominique Swain, Traci Lords, Cindy Lucas, Amy Holt, and Christine Nguyen, this creature feature tells the following story:

When a fracking mishap accidentally rips apart the earth's crust, the resulting hole opens up a gaping underground waterway leading to a vast and mysterious subterranean ocean somewhere deep below. Instantly, giant prehistoric sharks begin wending their way upward toward a murky bog in the heart of the Arkansas bayou. Unfortunately for a group of female prisoners on a work detail in the swamp, the deadly sharks attack without warning – pinning a hapless group of potential victims in a small deserted cabin in the heart of the wetlands. For these wayward women, death may be the only means of escape!

The special features have yet to be revealed, but it is known that Wynorski recorded an audio commentary with Holt and Lucas.

All the information I needed to know before putting this movie on my "must see" list was the title and "directed by Jim Wynorski", but if you need a bit more convincing, the trailer can be viewed below. If that wins you over, the DVD can be pre-ordered on Amazon.
