Hobo with a Shotgun’s Jason Eisener sets up a thriller at 20th Century Fox

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Back in 2013, as part of the build-up to the release of THE CONJURING, VICE hosted The 3:07am Project, a short (6 minutes total) horror anthology that featured segments by Nacho Vigalondo, Max Landis, Ti West, and HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN director Jason Eisener.

Eisener's segment, which we featured as a Cool Horror Video at the time, was entitled "One Last Dive" and was shot from the perspective of a police diver who finds something strange at the bottom of the water.

The filmmaker has now signed a deal with 20th Century Fox to direct an untitled thriller that is said to be tonally similar to "One Last Dive", and like that short the feature will have underwater action sequences and first-person POV sequences.

According to Tracking-Board's sources, this will be "a very individual spin on the horror genre" and Eisener is "attempting to reinvent the haunted house genre in a terrifying new way."

I will always check out anything Eisener does, and this sounds like a very promising project to me. It will be interesting to see how Eisener expands the concept and tone of "One Last Dive" into a feature film.

In addition to HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN and "One Last Dive", Eisener has also directed the short "Treevenge", the "Y Is for Youngbuck" segment of THE ABCs OF DEATH (pictured above), and the "Slumber Party Alien Abduction" segment of V/H/S/2.
