A Nightmare on Elm Street is being rebooted by New Line

As with any rumor, take this with a grain of salt until we get confirmation from the studio. In the meantime… oy.

The Tracking Board reports New Line Cinema is planning on remaking/rebooting A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET. David Leslie Johnson (ORPHAN, the upcoming DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS film) is evidently the screenwriter toiling away on the new take, while Toby Emmerich, Walter Hamada, and Dave Neustadter will oversee for New Line.

Tracking Board claims this film is “going back to the drawing board, working to create a remake worthy of the original.” So, yes, just another NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET remake.

It’s unclear whether or not Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes will be involved. It’s incredibly unlikely Jackie Earle Haley will reprise his role from the 2009 remake, and perhaps he should thank his lucky stars for that. (For my money, he wasn’t what was wrong with that movie.) Let’s see how this one develops.
