Well, this is disappointing news.

Yesterday it was reported that PACIFIC RIM and CRIMSON PEAK director Guillermo del Toro would be helming one of the final episodes of the third season of NBC's "Hannibal", much to the delight of the show's fans. Well, it ends up that bit of news just wasn't true. No, it wasn't an April Fools joke, it was just some miscommunication.

The De Laurentiis Company took to their Facebook page to explain the mix up. Read what they had to say below:

They further clarified that they wished they could chalk it up to an April Fools prank, but it really was just a terrible error on their part.

Guillermo Navarro and Michael Rymer, veteran "Hannibal" helmers, will in fact be back to direct with Navarra directing Episodes 11 and 12 and Rymer directing the season finale, so Fannibals should rest assured that the show is still in good hands.

"Hannibal" returns to NBC on June 4.
