Robert Rodriguez, not unlike his amigo Quentin Tarantino, has a talent for wrangling high-profile names for his juiced-up B-movies. The latest impressive A-lister in Rodriguez’s company is Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who takes the lead in Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR.

According to Deadline.com and Hollywood Reporter, Gordon-Levitt will play “John,” a new character to the Sin City universe; Hollywood Reporter describes him as a smooth gambler. Apparently, the filmmakers had offered the role to Johnny Depp at one point, but were rebuffed. JGD is not a bad second choice, however, as the actor has quickly become one of the most sought-after thesps in town.

Gordon-Levitt joins a cast that includes Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Jessica Alba (pictured below), Alexa Vega, Dennis Haysbert, Jamie King and Jamie Chung. In production now, the film will be released on October 4th.
