World War Z now brings in a new writer Damon Lindelof

Oh boy… WORLD WAR Z might be in a world of trouble.

We knew there was trouble in zombie paradise earlier this week when reshoots were announced on the Marc Forster flick. Of course, reshoots are common on every big-budget production… but this round is evidently for seven weeks. That’s a substantial chunk of time, signifying a major overhaul, not simple gap-filling.

Now it appears as though the production has brought in a whole new writer, one Damon Lindelof, who is currently either receiving praise or pans for his work on PROMETHEUS. The Hollywood Reporter says that Lindelof’s contribution will be on the movie’s third act, and production hopes to begin up and running (stumbling?) again in September or October.

Originally scheduled to come out during Christmas, Paramount pushed WWZ to JUNE 21, 2013 earlier this year.

The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.
