For the miniscule budgets he works under, you have to love the casts James Wan continues to attract. And with his chilling new ghost story, THE CONJURING, so far there’s certainly no exception.

Word from THR is genre vets Patrick Wilson (INSIDIOUS, right) and Vera Farmiga (ORPHAN, below) are in line to star in THE CONJURING, playing a husband and wife team of demonologists and psychic investigators who enter the most horrifying case of their career, spirits in a Rhode Island farmhouse.

How awesome is that?!? Wilson obviously has a rapport with Wan, and Farmiga’s talents have carried her to all different genres. Both are very good actors, so I have little doubt Wan will elicit fine performances.

With filming slated to commence this March in North Carolina – The story is based on the real life tale of the Perron family and their ordeals in the 1970s. When New Line acquired the pitch from the Hayes, it included life rights to the Perron family and the paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.

I wonder I how similar the paranormal investigators in THE CONJURING will be to those in INSIDIOUS. My guess is they won’t be used a comic-relief, that they’ll be comported in a much more grave manner. Just a hunch.

More on THE CONJURING as it wafts in.
