Lionsgate will release 51 on DVD, video on demand and digital download on September 20. The disc will include a behind-the-scenes featurette. Artwork is expected soon. The film was one of the After Dark Originals co-produced by Syfy. It premiered on the network back in February.

The movie, also known as AREA 51, is directed by Jason Connery (PANDEMIC) and written by Kenny Yakkel (DEAD AIR). It stars Bruce Boxleitner, Jason London, Rachel Miner, Vanessa Branch (below), Andrew Sensenig, Beau Brasso, John Shea and Jillian Batherson.

Bowing to political pressure, the Air Force has decided to allow two well-known journalists limited access to the nation’s best-kept secret – Area 51. Given the opportunity, one of the base’s long-term visitors exploits this occasion to liberate himself and his fellow alien captives. The incident quickly turns Area 51 from a secure government base to a destination of terror.
