Just last week, I told you about an upcoming video game based on CHILD’S PLAY‘s Chucky that is being developed by TikGames. It sounded really cool, but the excitement is already being quelled. Giant Bomb got in touch with TikGames marketing manager Amar Gavhane to learn a bit more about the game.

Is Don Mancini, creator of the series, on board? “This might be the first Chucky project he’s not involved in. The story was written internally, and anybody familiar with the movie series will see some parallels or crossovers with the overall cinematic story arc.”

What about Brad Dourif, who has voiced Chucky in all of the films? “While I’m a big fan of his work, especially when his talents are used well in the horror genre, at this point he’s not involved.”

I can’t say I’m exactly surprised by this news, but it’s certainly a bit disappointing. It’s too early to judge, though; the game still has the potential be fun. It’s scheduled to be available for download and for the PC this fall.

Utilizing an original storyline, players will have the opportunity to play as the killer doll and experience his exploits first hand while extending his gory legacy. True to the nature of the films, Chucky will use his full repertoire of stealth and guile to dispatch victims in a multitude of distinctive methods. In the end, it will be up to the player to decide how many (or few) people survive this stealth-action romp.
