A few days ago we learned Ami Canaan Mann’s serial killer flick THE FIELDS has become the beneficiary of Infinity Media’s financing. Prior to that, all we knew about the flick were a few names attached to the project, namely 2010’s box-office heavyweight Sam Worthington, Jessica Chastain, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Chloe Moretz. Well folks, looks like another name has been tossed into the ring, and according to Variety, that name is none other than Jason Clarke (seen right)!

Clarke, whose credits extend back to 1994, is someone you may have seen in TWILIGHT (nope, sorry…I’m talking the Paul Newman flick), DEATH RACE, PUBLIC ENEMIES, and next appears in Oliver Stone’s WALL STREET sequel. Not a bad resume to bring to dark thriller!

Written by first-timer Don Ferrarone, THE FIELDS (once known as THE TEXAS KILLING FIELDS), is set in the Texas bayous, where a local homicide detective teams up with a cop from New York City to investigate a series of unsolved murders.

It’s interesting to note that, while Bradley Cooper was once in talks to star in THE FIELDS, he’s currently filming another flick we’ve been covering called THE DARK FIELDS. Not only that, another film starring Tara Reid called THE FIELDS has been in post-production for some time now, also holding to an unspecified 2011 release (as does Canaan Mann’s film).

Lot a mothaf*ckin’ fields to plow, ay?

Clarke’s soon to be co-star Jessica Chastain!
