For the last few years, the rights to the Fright Night franchise have been in the hands of Tom Holland, writer/director of the original Fright Night (watch it HERE). A while back, Holland said he was writing a novel called Fright Night 2: Resurrection that would serve as a direct sequel to the original film, and while it’s not clear what the status of that novel is now, American Mythology Productions has announced that they’ve been given Holland’s blessing to release a sequel comic book series titled Fright Night: Dead by Dawn. The first issue of the comic will reach store shelves on November 24th.
Starring William Ragsdale, Chris Sarandon, Roddy McDowall, Amanda Bearse, Stephen Geoffreys, and Jonathan Stark (with a cameo by Nick Savage from Friday the 13th Part III), Fright Night is often ranked highly among the best vampire movies ever made. The film has the following synopsis:
Teenage Charley Brewster (Ragsdale) is a horror-film junkie, so it’s no surprise that, when a reclusive new neighbor named Jerry Dandridge (Sarandon) moves next-door, Brewster becomes convinced he is a vampire. It’s also no surprise when nobody believes him. However, after strange events begin to occur, Charlie has no choice but to turn to the only person who could possibly help: washed-up television vampire killer Peter Vincent (McDowall).

one year after the events of the film and finds the group of DIY vampire hunters still chasing the undead. The group consists of a horror movie icon turned late night tv host (Peter Vincent), a teenage horror fan (Charley Brewster), and his girlfriend (Amy Peterson).
As of last November, Holland was said to be 31,000 words into writing the Fright Night 2: Resurrection novel. We’ll let you know if there are any further updates on that, but in the meantime we have this comic book to look forward to.
