Millennium Media‘s Hellboy reboot, The Crooked Man, is ready to open the gates of hell to Jack Kesy (Deadpool 2, Baywatch). Kesy will play Hellboy, the pancake-eatin’, kitty-pettin’ demon who fights supernatural creatures and overlords with a shit-eating grin across his red lips. Crank director Brian Taylor directs the Hellboy reboot from a script written by Hellboy comic book creator Mike Mignola and Chris Golden.

The plot for Hellboy: The Crooked Man finds Big Red forsaken in 1950s rural Appalachia with a BPRD agent who’s new to the art of banishing baddies alongside a team of supernaturally-charged hunters. While in Appalachia, the duo discovers a remote community haunted by witches, led by a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy’s past: the Crooked Man.

“Jack Kesy is a dynamic actor who has the ability to morph into his roles. His talent and stature are perfect for this younger Hellboy. I was very impressed with him while working together on The Outpost,” said co-President of Millennium Media, Jonathan Yunger.

“So first of all, I love the character of Hellboy and my favorite run of the character is this particular era,” Brian Taylor said, speaking with Collider last month. “The GDT movies were massive scale space operas and just pure Del Toro through and through. But some of the comics Mike (Mignola) was doing at the time had a very different feeling. More lean and mean, creepy folk horror. A younger Hellboy, wandering the dark corners of the world… Paranormal investigator, night stalker… The Crooked Man in particular is just such an iconic book—written by Mike, drawn by Richard Corben, another legend. Set in the late 50s. For me it’s my favorite version of the character. So the appeal of this one to me, is to go back to that and do a real reset, and really give us that version of Hellboy, which I just don’t think we’ve seen yet.” Taylor added that he pitched Hellboy: The Crooked Man as an R-rated project, saying that Millennium has supported the choice.

Are you looking forward to another R-rated Hellboy reboot? Do you think this one will fare better than Neil Marshall’s 2019 reboot starring David Harbour? Feel free to let us know in the comments!
