The Green Knight director David Lowery is joining the Star Wars: Skeleton Crew team as a featured filmmaker on the series. While production for the series wrapped a few months ago, details about who contributes to the show are starting to make the rounds. A complete list of contributors is forthcoming, but One Take News says Lowery is involved.

Earlier this month, the Everything Everywhere All At Once filmmaking duo, The Daniels, were revealed to have helmed an episode of the upcoming series. Oddly, the news about their contribution to the series was ill-received by fans, with many saying the Oscar-winning duo had sold out.

Daniel Kwan took to his Instagram Story (via Entertainment Weekly) to address the backlash and explained that they’re only directing one episode of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. “Lol, all of the people @ing us about getting sucked up by the ‘corporate machine’ can chill. These headlines are always misleading,” Kwan wrote. “Don’t worry. We aren’t working on a whole series, we guest directed one episode. Jon Watts approached us to do an episode a while ago (before EEAAO even came out). We love Jon, love Star Wars, love learning new tech, we love meeting new cast and crew, and we needed the days to keep our healthcare (!!!) so it was an easy yes.” The Daniels shot their episode of Skeleton Crew last year, with Kwan saying, “I’m excited for you all to see it. “

As far as the future goes, Daniel Kwan said, “Our next film will be an original Daniels project so you can stop worrying (and stop bothering me about it).” The Daniels took home Best Director at the Academy Awards for their work on Everything Everywhere All at Once, as well as awards for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Actress (Michelle Yeoh), Best Supporting Actor (Ke Huy Quan), and Best Supporting Actress (Jamie Lee Curtis).

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew comes from Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts and follows “four kids who find themselves lost in the vastness of the galaxy trying to find their way home.” It takes place in the New Republic era so that it could cross over into the events of The Mandalorian and Ahsoka. Jude Law is the only confirmed cast member of the series, but it’s not known who he plays.

As for Lowery, he’s directing Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel in the A24 feature Mother Mary. He also wrapped Peter Pan & Wendy for Disney+, coming to the streamer on April 28.

What do you think about Lowery directing an episode of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew? Are fans going to come for him as they did with the Daniels? I certainly hope not.
