Paramount Pictures has released a behind-the-scenes featurette for Children of Blood and Bone, giving fans their best look yet at Gina Prince-Bythewood’s adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling fantasy novel. While a full trailer is set to arrive tomorrow, today’s video offers a glimpse of the cast, the world of Orïsha, and the scope of the fantasy epic. Check out the featurette in the embed above.
What is Children of Blood and Bone about?
Based on the first novel in Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling Legacy of Orïsha trilogy, the story follows Zélie Adebola, a young woman who embarks on a dangerous quest to restore magic after it is stolen from her people by a ruthless monarchy.

Trailer arrives tomorrow
Today’s featurette serves as a preview of what’s to come, with Paramount confirming that the film’s first full trailer will debut tomorrow. Tomorrow’s trailer should offer an even better sense of the action, world-building, and characters that make up the fantasy adventure.
JoBlo also attended Paramount’s CinemaCon presentation earlier this year, where extended footage suggested the studio is aiming for a large-scale fantasy franchise with an emphasis on practical production and epic action.
The adaptation has also made headlines in recent months after Adeyemi revealed she does not plan to watch the finished film despite receiving a co-writing credit, saying there is “a reason I will not post anything about the adaptation of my work. That’s all.” Even so, Paramount continues to position Children of Blood and Bone as one of its biggest theatrical releases of 2027.
Children of Blood and Bone opens exclusively in theaters and IMAX on January 15, 2027.
