Disney wants more of Rick Riordan, as a new series based on the author’s Kane Chronicles trilogy is in the works. He’s best known for his Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, which is set to debut its third season on Disney+ in November.

The Kane Chronicles

Set in the same universe as Percy Jackson, The Kane Chronicles is a trilogy based on Egyptian mythology which follows siblings Carter and Sadie Kane, powerful magicians descended from the two pharaohs Narmer and Ramses the Great. The three novels are The Red Pyramid, The Throne of Fire, and The Serpent’s Shadow.

The show’s logline reads: “When their father unleashes the god of chaos and vanishes, the estranged Kane siblings must master their inherited Egyptian magic, forge unlikely alliances, and rescue their father before warring gods can wreak havoc on our modern world.

Should the project be ordered to series, Angela Robinson (True Blood) will executive produce and write the show alongside Riordan

A feature-film adaptation of The Kane Chronicles was previously in the works at Netflix, but they ultimately decided not to move forward after several years of development.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians

The upcoming third season of Percy Jackson is based on The Titan’s Curse, the third novel in Riordan’s series. The official synopsis reads: “When Annabeth is captured by the forces of Kronos, Percy must embark on a perilous journey to rescue her. He must free a goddess in chains, confront the Titan’s curse, and avoid triggering the fall of Olympus. With Grover by his side, Percy must join some unlikely questmates to confront a prophecy with dire consequences.

The cast includes Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, and Dafne Keen as the goddess Artemis.

Also returning for the new season are Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan, Daniel Diemer as Tyson, and Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue. New Greek gods will also be introduced, including Hubert Smielecki as Apollo, Kate McKinnon as Aphrodite, and Ming-Na Wen as Hera.

Percy Jackson will return to Disney+ on November 20, and we caught the first trailer at D23 last month.
