Altered Carbon’s Dichen Lachman joins Jurassic World 3

Director Colin Trevorrow is bringing back several JURASSIC franchise stars for JURASSIC WORLD 3. Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith, Jake Johnson, and Omar Sy are all coming back from previous installments. There haven't been many franchise newcomers cast so far, though. It has been announced that Mamoudou Athie and DeWanda Wise are in the cast, and now Dichen Lachman has signed on to play a role as well.

I wasn't familiar with Lachman's name before this, but looking over her credits it appears that I should have been. She has been in multiple episodes of Neighbours, Dollhouse, Being Human, Last Resort, The 100, Shameless, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Last Ship, Supergirl, Altered Carbon, and Animal Kingdom. Along the way she has also shown up on NCIS: Los Angeles, Hawaii Five-O, Torchwood, The Guild, and The League. So the problem is my lack of TV watching. I have watched some Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but have fallen way behind on it.

Lachman was in a 2009 horror film called BLED, and even has dinosaur movie experience. She was in Brian Trenchard-Smith's 2007 film TYRANNOSAURUS AZTECA, a.k.a. AZTEC REX, with Ian Ziering.

So it sounds like she's a great addition to the JURASSIC WORLD 3 cast.

The film doesn't have an official synopsis at this point, but we do know that the screenplay written by Trevorrow and Emily Carmichael (from an idea Trevorrow crafted with his JURASSIC WORLD / JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM co-writer Derek Connolly) will deal with the fact that the ending of FALLEN KINGDOM set dinosaurs loose into the countryside of mainland America.

Trevorrow made a short film, BATTLE AT BIG ROCK, that shows dinosaurs in the American wilderness and is set between FALLEN KINGDOM and JURASSIC WORLD 3.

A collaboration between Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, JURASSIC WORLD 3 is being executive produced by Trevorrow and Steven Spielberg, with Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley producing. Sara Scott, senior vice president of production at Universal, is overseeing the project for the studio.

The film is set to reach theatres on June 11, 2021.
