A Beastly teen

JoBloJoBlo

After the considerable success of the teen vampire flick TWILIGHT, we should probably prepare for the onslaught of copycat high school creature flicks.

How about a modernized version of the classic fairy tale “Beauty and the Beast”, but with less Ron Perlman and sewers? That’s what CBS Films has in mind with BEASTLY, based on Alex Flinn’s young-adult novel about a New York teenager trying to overcome his undesirable monsterism to meet chicks.

Daniel Barnz, of the upcoming PHOEBE IN WONDERLAND, is writing and directing. Producers are unsurprisingly “seeking a young hearththrob in the vein of Robert Pattinson” (TWILIGHT’s pale JBF-haired vamp), and were once pursuing Zac Efron.
