An English-language trailer for the action-superhero movie MAJOR GROM: PLAGUE DOCTOR will see you now, which brings characters based on the cult Russian comic book series to life like never before.

Published by Bubble Comics, the film tells the story of Police Major Igor Grom, whose sense of justice is rattled when he comes face to mask with an enigmatic assassin nicknamed 'The Plague Doctor, who has declared that the city of St. Petersburg is "sick with the plague of lawlessness." As a part of their mission to right wrongs within the city, the Plague Doctor hunts the rich who've managed to avoid punishment for their many crimes.

The film hails from directors Oleg Trofim (ICE) and DoP Maxim Zhukov (SPUTNIK), with actors Tikhon Zhiznevskiy and Lyubov Aksenova leading the charge against criminals who see themselves as untouchable. Seeing as the film had wrapped production before croronavirus lockdown measures were in place, the $10 million-budgeted film is expected to open in Russia next year.

For what it's worth, I think this looks pretty cool. As a lover of all things related to comic books, I try my best to welcome new characters and series into my forever-growing list of things to check out. After all, I'm getting some pretty heavy Batman vibes from this trailer, and that's not a bad place to start.

Bubble Comics' Major Grom: Plague Doctor is a comic book series written by Evgeniy Fedotov and Artem Gabrelyanov, with art by Denis Tarasov, pencils and inks by Konstantin Tarasov, colors by Saikono, and letters by hosino.hikaru and Sviatosiav Kaverin.
