Adelaide Clemens replaces Abbey Lee in Rabbit

Thirteen months ago we heard of a film called RABBIT, a dark psychological thriller from writer/director Luke Shanahan that was said to be in the vein of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN and ROSEMARY'S BABY. At the time, MAD MAX: FURY ROAD's Abbey Lee was attached to star as

Maude Ashton, a young medical student haunted by visions of her twin sister’s abduction, who discovers a secret society that might be connected to her missing sister.

RABBIT is currently in the midst of a five week filming schedule, and there was a casting shake-up on the way to production. Lee had to drop out of the project and has been replaced in the role of Maude by Adelaide Clemens, an actress genre fans may recognize from Shunji Iwai's VAMPIRE, Ryuhei Kitamura's NO ONE LIVES, and/or Michael J. Bassett's SILENT HILL: REVELATION.

Fittingly, given the lead actress's name, RABBIT is being filmed in and around Adelaide, Australia. Clemens is joined in the cast by Belgian actress Veerle Baetens (pictured below in THE BROKEN CIRCLE BREAKDOWN).

A quote from producer David Ngo reiterates the ROSEMARY'S BABY comparison:

The film is an intense ride into the world of twins and telepathy that shows just how far we’ll go to save the person we love. It’s ROSEMARY'S BABY for a new generation.”
